IT'S TIME TO PARTY!

I sure hope everyone is rested, filled with holiday cheer (not to mention holiday deserts) and ready to kick off 2010 in style...

We're going to have a party January 14 starting at 6 at my house. The address is 6133 County Oak Road, Woodland Hills CA 91367. If you can find Valley Circle and Victory Blvd. you can find my house. Go all the way up (west) Victory Blvd. till it ends at the State Park entrance. The last street at the top on the left is County Oak. Make a left onto County… Continue

The money can evince itself in a number of ways: one side paying the other cash; one side paying the other in specific performance; one side paying the other by refraining from competing, and so foregoing potential income, and so on. But, when the dust clears, the outcome is generally that money either does or doesn't change hands.

A second characteristic of such… Continue

The Joys of Giving

At this time of year, everybody, myself included writes paeans to the gratitude we're supposed to feel during this holiday season, and opines that gratitude should not be a seasonal thing. All true, of course. But I want to remind all of us in the business of resolving conflict to be joyous in all that we give -- and not just during the holidays.

For me, mediation acts as a conduit for my spiritual self. I harness a higher power that I do not regularly have, but that I am able to use… Continue

So what happened to Tessier's party?

I know when everyone opens their eyes after deep thoughts and a long contemplation of their navel, their place in the universe, or the fact that the New Orleans Saints are unbeaten, the next thought is "so what happened to Tessier's party?"

The answer is that we will have it, but it will be in January. I consulted various shamen, astrologers, and my guru, and the stars simply cannot align properly to get a December date. Rest assured, the Druid priests did no permanent damage to… Continue

Mediating Commercial and Litigated Cases with Lee Jay Berman at American Institute of Mediation

May 16, 2017 to May 20, 2017
This program is a practical training course. While covering theory to give you a framework and the intellectual understanding of negotiation and mediation, this course is about learning. Our focus is on your doing, practicing and experimenting with negotiating and mediating. There is much to teach about mediation and negotiation, but one reason mediators fail is because they understand the theory, but cannot execute it when under the gun. In this course, you will mediate and negotiate your way…See More

Grow Your Mediation Practice Now! with Lee Jay Berman at American Institute of Mediation

January 28, 2017 from 9am to 4pm
We volunteer and we gripe.  We go to “networking” events, and don’t feel comfortable there or don’t know what to do.  Many of those trying to establish a career in mediation come from prior careers in law, mental health or education.  These three careers are among the weakest at marketing and self-promotion.  Our industry suffers unnecessarily because so many are highly skilled at mediating, and yet lack the skills that enable them to secure the opportunity to actually mediate.  In this course,…See More
