I sure hope everyone is rested, filled with holiday cheer (not to mention holiday deserts) and ready to kick off 2010 in style...
We're going to have a party January 14 starting at 6 at my house. The address is 6133 County Oak Road, Woodland Hills CA 91367. If you can find Valley Circle and Victory Blvd. you can find my house. Go all the way up (west) Victory Blvd. till it ends at the State Park entrance. The last street at the top on the left is County Oak. Make a left onto County Oak and go up about 6 houses on your right...that's all there is to it.
We'll have some good food there, but it is LA Mediators tradition to bring along something tasty, so feel free to do so. A big bottle to vodka is also good, and will go to my favorite charity (my Irish liver) if you bring that...but trust me there is plenty already.
My plan is to have this be very informal. There will be no set agenda. But expect the unexpected. Charles may recite Shakespeare or read from his new book while wearing a lampshade. Some conflicts may need resolving, such as Charles wanting to keep the lampshade. Or the pool (warmed by nature to about 45 degrees) is envigorating on winter evenings if you are a polar bear, with or without lampshade.
Our aim for the party is to welcome back our old friends, welcome our new friends, and continue the mission of LA Mediators to support and encourage one another. Save the mediator, save the world. How's that for a slogan!
I was very heartened by our last meeting and happy to hear about the diverse goals and desires of our members. While we're all interested in doing well by doing good as mediators, the paths we have chosen and are now traveling are so different. I think that fact alone suggests how much we can all teach and learn from each other. I am excited to be on the learning end in 2010, and especially when the ladies take charge later this year to share their magic.
All are welcome to come, including a guest, but please rsvp on our site or let Kym know who's coming and what you're bringing. I look forward to seeing all of you for some fun. Even you Orange County mediators...it's only 3 hours by boat!
